On July 1st at 9:00 AM , the School of Internet of Things Engineering invited Professor Li Sun from the University of Houston (USA) to deliver an online academic report entitled "The Development and Challenges of Stretchable Biosensors." Dr. Sun is currently a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Director of the Submarine Engineering Program, and professor of Materials Engineering, the Texas Center for Superconductivity, and Submarine Engineering at the University of Houston. He has published over100 SCIpapers , including more than35in journals with an impact factor higher than3.5 . He has led over 30 projectsfunded by the National Science Foundation, the US Department of Education,NASA , and industry, receiving over $ 4 millionin grants . He has participated in over20 reviews for grants from the National Science Foundation, the Department of Energy, and international grants. His graduate, undergraduate, and high school students have received over20research awards and scholarships. He holds3US and7Chinese invention patents, with2 US patents pending. In recent years, Dr. Sunhas achieved numerous results in the application of carbon nanofiber polymer composites and nanomaterials in energy, biosensors, and interventional therapy. In the fields of energy materials and underwater engineering, we have received funding from a number of companies, includingGE Oil and Gas, Cameron, Schlumberger, NOV, and Downhole Technology, and have developed a number of testing methods and products.

In his academic report, Professor Sun first briefly introduced the main research directions of his research group, then introduced the concept, current status, and application background of stretchable biosensors. He pointed out that the development of new materials is currently the key technology for improving the sensitivity and accuracy of sensors, and showcased his group's research achievements in nanomaterial preparation, which left a deep impression on the audience. After the report, Professor Sun also had an in-depth online conversation with the faculty and students of our college, answering their questions and broadening their academic horizons.
