Wuxi University is a public undergraduate university approved by the Ministry of Education, managed by the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, sponsored by the Wuxi Municipal People's Government, and supported by Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology. Its predecessor was the Binjiang College of Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology, founded in May 2002. Adhering to the socialist direction of education and upholding the educational positioning of "based in Wuxi, integrated with industry, oriented towards the region, and serving development," the university has constructed a "three-in-one" educational system comprising Wuxi University, a joint postgraduate training base, and a national university science park. Located at No. 333 Xishan Avenue, Wuxi City, adjacent to the core area of Xidong New City, Wuxi East Railway Station, and Sunan Shuofang International Airport, the university enjoys a superior geographical location and beautiful scenery. The campus covers an area of over 1770 acres and is a modern, smart, ecological, cultural, and low-carbon campus, having won honors such as Jiangsu Provincial Green School and Jiangsu Provincial Smart Campus. The university is a Jiangsu Province master's degree granting unit under construction, currently with over 13,000 undergraduate students, over 100 international students, and over 400 postgraduate students jointly trained with Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology.

Aligning with the needs of local economic and social development, the university comprises 17 teaching units, including the School of Internet of Things Engineering, the School of Cyberspace Security, the School of Electronic Information Engineering, the School of Integrated Circuit Science and Engineering, the School of Automation (School of Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering), the School of Transportation and Vehicle Engineering, the School of Environmental Science and Engineering, the School of Atmospheric and Remote Sensing, the School of Digital Economy and Management, the School of Emergency Management, the School of Media and Arts, the School of International Education, the Novosibirsk College, the School of Marxism (School of Law), the Department of Physical Education, the School of Applied Technology (School of Continuing Education), and the Department of Public Basic Teaching (School of Foreign Languages). It offers 6 master's programs (jointly with Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology) and 47 undergraduate majors, covering seven major disciplines: science, engineering, literature, management, economics, law, and arts. The university has been approved for 2 national-level first-class major construction sites, 11 provincial-level first-class major construction sites, 4 provincial-level industry-education integration brand major construction sites, and 3 provincial-level university brand major construction projects (Phase III). Four disciplines—Electronic Science and Technology, Control Science and Engineering, Cyberspace Security, and Management Science and Engineering—have been selected as key disciplines in Jiangsu Province's "14th Five-Year Plan."

The school attaches great importance to the development of its teaching staff, which currently has more than 1,000 faculty and staff members. Among the full-time teachers, 30.2% hold senior professional titles, and more than 130 full-time teachers are national-level talents, provincial "333" high-level talents, provincial "Blue Project" young and middle-aged academic leaders, and provincial innovation and entrepreneurship doctoral candidates.

The university adheres to a talent cultivation-centered approach, continuously deepening educational and teaching reforms. It has won two second-class national teaching achievement awards and three special and second-class provincial teaching achievement awards. It has also been approved for 26 provincial-level first-class undergraduate courses and provincial-level model courses for ideological and political education, and has published two national-level planned textbooks, three provincial-level key textbooks, and six provincial-level planned textbooks. In the past three years, students have won nearly 1,000 awards in national and provincial innovation and entrepreneurship competitions and academic competitions such as the Challenge Cup and the National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. The university's student union is a member unit of the 27th Presidium of the All-China Students' Federation (one of only two universities in Jiangsu Province). The undergraduate employment rate remains above 95%, and the postgraduate entrance examination pass rate consistently ranks among the top in similar institutions. Many outstanding students have been admitted to "Double First-Class" universities such as Peking University and Nanjing University, as well as renowned international universities such as the University of California and King's College London. The university has cultivated over 50,000 graduates, with a large number of students passing the national civil service examination or being recruited by Fortune 500 companies, large state-owned enterprises, and public institutions. The quality of its graduates has received unanimous praise from all sectors of society.

The school continues to deepen the integration of industry and education, establishing over 100 internship and training bases and signing talent cultivation cooperation agreements with more than 180 large enterprises and institutions. It has established over 20 industry-education integration entities, including the Internet of Vehicles Industry College, the Integrated Circuit Industry College, the Digital Economy Industry College, the Intelligent Manufacturing Industry College, the Huawei ICT College, the Cybersecurity Training Base, and the Jinkui Innovation and Entrepreneurship Practice Education Center. Among these, the Internet of Vehicles Industry College has been approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology as a "Specialized, Refined, and Innovative Industry College," a provincial key industry college, and a provincial key base for industry-education integration. The Jinkui Innovation and Entrepreneurship Practice Education Center is a provincial-level university student innovation and entrepreneurship practice education center. The Jiangsu Provincial Cybersecurity Training Base has been selected as a national and provincial "National Digital Literacy and Skills Training Base," and is the first comprehensive, exemplary, and applied cybersecurity training base in Jiangsu Province and the first in a prefecture-level city nationwide, integrating teaching and training, emergency drills, and science popularization.

The university emphasizes scientific research. In recent years, it has undertaken more than 600 national, provincial and ministerial-level and industry-funded research projects; published more than 1,000 high-quality research papers; won more than 10 provincial and ministerial-level or above scientific research awards; and has 14 provincial and ministerial-level or above scientific research and innovation platforms, including the Jiangsu Provincial Engineering Research Center for Hyperconverged Application and Security of Internet of Things Devices, the Jiangsu Provincial Engineering Research Center for Reliability Technology and Testing System of Integrated Circuits, and the Key Open Laboratory of Ecosystem Carbon Source and Sink of China Meteorological Administration.

The university actively engages in international cooperation and exchange, and has been approved by the Ministry of Education for one Sino-foreign cooperative education institution and one Sino-foreign cooperative education program, three Jiangsu Provincial Foreign Expert Studios , one Jiangsu Provincial Key Platform for the Introduction of Overseas High-level Talents, and one Jiangsu Provincial Brand Program for International Talent Training. It has established cooperative relationships with more than 30 overseas universities, including George Mason University (USA), Fort Hays State University (USA), Novosibirsk State Technical University (Russia), Zeppelin University (Germany), Göttingen University of Applied Sciences (Germany), University of Reading (UK), University of New South Wales (Australia), and Macau University of Science and Technology, in areas such as talent training, credit recognition, and scientific research.

Standing at this new stage of development, the university will focus on building a distinctive, first-class, innovative, and application-oriented university.
